Jayson’s Traffic Summary for Monday

The biggest problem for us besides the sun was the closure of the Cherry Creek Dam Road. It closed on Friday and stayed closed for the weekend and should reopen for the evening commute and for tomorrow morning.

Several new laws go into effect tomorrow including increased traffic fines and the use of photo radar in construction zones. The enforcement will be stepped up as the new law will be highlighted over the next few months.

Jayson’s Traffic Summary for Friday

The drive was super quiet without any major problems with accidents or stalls. We did have a crash on EB 6th Ave at Wadsworth that slowed traffic around 7:30. The biggest obstacle was the Cherry Creek Dam Road that was closed this morning for road work. It should reopen by Monday morning.

Jayson’s Traffic Summary for Thursday

It was a quiet and relatively uneventful drive around town today. A few crashes here and there but nothing out of control.

In the Longmont area, the ramp from Colorado 66 to NB I-25 is closed until further notice for emergency retaining wall repair. You can use either Highway 119 or the Mead exit County road 34.

The new interchange at C-470 and Alameda opens today. It is the new intersection between I-70 and Morrison. It will help give you a new route to get to Green Mountain, Union, Red Rocks and the Hogback.

It was a fairly quiet day on the roads with a few crashes here and there. The biggest factor was the bike riders out of their cars and off the highways. There were some traffic slowdowns but the commute was better than average with bike to work day.

Jayson’s Traffic Summary for Tuesday

At 6:30 someone driving north on I-25 near Erie rollover over their car at highway 7. They shut down the highway to help the people hurt in the crash and to land a medical helicopter on the interstate. 4 people were hurt in the crash with on taken in that helicopter to the hospital. The accident took more than 2 and a half hours to clean up and it backed up traffic at one point back to 136th Ave, that is 4 miles from the crash site.

Denver’s second red light camera was activated yesterday. It is located at eastbound 6th Avenue and Kalamath Street. There will be a 30 day grace period before fines start and then beginning on July 23rd the fine for a Red Light camera detected violation is $75.00. The 2 remain locations to go live are eastbound Sixth Avenue at Lincoln street and westbound Eighth Avenue at southbound Speer Boulevard. The first intersection to get hooked up was 36th and Quebec last Tuesday.
