I’ve got Cankles!
It is amazing how one day you wake up and look down at your feet (that is if you can see them) and notice your ankles are no longer there. I am there. My ankles and feet are swollen. So swollen that sometimes flip flops are the only shoes I can wear. How professional for work, right?
The good news is that my hips and sciatic nerve are so much better than they were months ago. I finally went to a chiropractor (Dr. Michelle Clark) who saved my life. Okay, not literally, but she did fix me up so I could walk.
And I need to be able to walk, because the countdown to twins is here. This is week 30. In August I will be the proud of mother of two beautiful little girls. That is the good news. The bad news is that I have no cribs and no changing table. The nursery is currently my husband’s office, so there is a lot of moving and painting that needs to be done.
We will do it though! Plus, the girls won’t care if they are sleeping in a red room (which it is currently) or a taupe colored room (color of the nursery), right?
Here is my week 30 photo…..notice I do not show the cankles!
I give you my deepest sympathies on the cankles and flip flops. I am a detective with a local law enforcement agency and when I was pregnant with my son, I was forced to wear sandals because my feet were so huge. My husband said my feet looked like a cow tongue wrapped in leather. It was horrible! On the bright side, it went away very soon after delivery. Good luck.
Hang in there, girl - those beautiful babies will be worth everything.
Cankle Sympathizer—-Thank you! I cannot tell you how nice it is to hear I am not alone. And your husband’s comment has me in stitches! Although that was a dangerous comment to make to a pregnant woman with all the hormones. He is lucky you didn’t attack him!
I just had my second child on May 29th. I can totally relate with how you are feeling. My feet would swell as soon as I climbed out of bed every morning. I am only able to wear my flip flops now and my son is a month old. He is worth every pain and swollen body part I had the entire 9months. Best of luck.
Oh my! I giggle when I read your updates and so does my co-worker. She is pregnant with TRIPLETS!! Yes, THREE! And at 18 weeks she’s already complaining about her cankles and flip-flop clad feet! TOOOO funny, but as someone stated before me, it will ALL be worth it–trust me!
Continued good luck and remember to enjoy your pregnancy!
